    Our Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) courses are designed for individuals seeking skills development that meet the needs of the British construction sector.

    Grants are paid for the completion of approved short courses, which last from 3 hours to 29 days and focus on the core construction skills needed throughout the industry.

    For small businesses

    Prepare for growth

    Our small business accelerator programmes are aimed at sole-traders and small construction firms. They have been designed to provide leaders with the tools needed to grow and manage their business. Our group workshops allow learners to build on their knowledge and skills while sharing their experience with others. And our 1-2-1 mentoring programmes provides business owners with tailored coaching to help them take ownership of their projects, their teams, and their time.

    For medium businesses

    Develop your talent

    As a medium or large construction firm, you’re probably already paying into the CITB levy. No doubt you will want to ensure that your levy payments are being put to good use by your organisation.

    With our SQA-accredited Leadership and Management Personal Development Awards (PDA) up to SCQF level 9, you can ensure that your organisation’s leadership programmes effectively develop careers and foster talent with your business.

    The funding process:

    Step 1.

    Register with CITB

    If you’re not already registered with the CITB, you can do so now. If your total wage bill (payroll and Net CIS) is under £135,000 your organisation won’t have to pay the levy. This is called the ‘Small Business Levy Exemption’. You still get access to the CITB’s funding for skills and training.

    Step 2.

    Choose your training

    Sixth Sense offers a range of CITB-approved training programmes, from leadership and management workshops to personal 1-2-1 mentoring from a professional business coach.

    Step 3.

    Claim your funding

    Sixth Sense will ensure you know exactly how much of your costs will be funded by the CITB. Most of our courses are fully funded and we’ll provide you with everything you need to claim your grant funding.

    Leadership & Management Practice

    This course aims to enable the delegate to develop knowledge and understanding of using leadership and management skills to ensure safety and quality requirements and appropriate standards of behaviour are met when achieving project and work plans as required by a practising or potential team leader or site supervisor.

    The purpose of this course is to enable the delegate to develop knowledge and understanding of the role and responsibilities of a team leader and be able to improve personal performance.
